Neves Corvo mine

28 de February, 2026

Since 1989, the Neves Corvo mine ignites a relevant freight traffic between the mine and the Setúbal port. Until 2025, the CP 1900/30 series reigned in this traffic – probably the longest sequence for a single locomotives series within a single freight traffic in our country. To this date, a few trains are still operated by the Alsthom diesels even though the vast majority is now hauled by the more modern Euro4000’s from Medway. Take a look back and enjoy.
